AN: I don't have much experience writing serious fics, I'm not going to pretend this is some masterpiece of literature, it's just a songfic that I wrote because the song Karma Chameleon by Culture Club has always reminded me of Taito. Anyways this is set at the beginning of 02. Song lyrics are in green.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Taichi is watching as Yamato's band preforms. It seems that lately they have taken a liking to playing older American pop songs. Taichi begins to think about the time that they spent in the Digiworld three years ago...

Desert loving in your eyes all the way

He pictures Yamato's eyes, and thinks of how they seem to shift between blue and gray...

If I listen to your lies would you say
I'm a man without conviction
I'm a man who doesn't know

Taichi remembers standing by the graves of thier Digimon friends...he thinks of Yamato telling him that he had no compassion, no feelings...

How to sell a contradiction
You come and go
You come and go

The scene of Yamato appearing and defeating Puppetmon only to walk away again plays in Taichi's mind...

Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon
You come and go
You come and go

He thinks of how Yamato can seem so close to him one minute, but then suddenly turn cold.

Loving would be easy
If the colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green
Red, gold, and green

If only Yamato could make this easy for them...but thier feelings were so often covered up by thier violent disagreements...

Didn't hear your wicked
Words every day

Taichi remembers all the times that Yamato yelled at him; how he tried not to hear the truth in those words he was saying.

And you used to be so sweet
I heard you say

There was a time when he and Yamato could get along without arguing...wasn't there?

That my love was an addiction
When we cling our love is strong

Taichi can see Yamato running to him during the battle with Piedmon...
"I'll never let anything come between us again..." echoes through his thoughts...Yamato's arms around him...

When you go, you're gone forever
You string along
You string along

Taichi wonders if Yamato was just leading him on all those times that he put his arms around him, held his hand...
"I'd better hold onto your hand, just in case..."

Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon
You come and go
You come and go
Loving would be easy
If the colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green
Red, gold, and green

As the band plays the chorus again, Taichi's mind drifts from the song, back to a time before Yamato had taken up the guitar...Taichi used to just stand and listen as the blonde boy played his harmonica; there was always something beautiful and haunting about Yamato's music...

Every day is like survival
You're my lover, not my rival

Taichi remembers parralel scenes: one of him walking with his arm around Yamato; the other of him on top of Yamato, about to punch him...

Every day is like survival

Taichi remembers the times when they fought evil Digimon together...

You're my lover, not my rival

He should be...they should be lovers, and not rivals...

I'm a man without conviction
I'm a man who doesn't know

Maybe...maybe he should just tell Matt how he feels...he was so unsure of what to do...

How to sell a contradiction
You come and go
You come and go

But he didn't want to be seperated from Yamato ever again...

Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon
You come and go
You come and go
Loving would be easy

Maybe...maybe.

If the colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green,
Red, gold, and green
