HOW?

A lot of people will say that no one on Pokemon can be gay...but they're completely wrong, and this can actually be proven. In the Magical Pokemon Journey manga, which is an offical Pokemon manga approved by Nintendo and everything, there are actually canonically gay characters. So if it can happen in the manga, why not in the anime? Plus there are many animes that include homosexual characters, even animes that are aimed at a younger age group, such as Card Captor Sakura. So there's really no reason that there couldn't be gay characters in the Pokemon anime! And Shigesato (AAGL) is very popular in Japan! Really, the main reason I believe they're gay is that there's so much evidence that they love each other. And when you're in love with someone of the same sex as you...well, that makes you gay. Or at least bisexual. But there is other evidence for them being gay!

Ash didn't fall for the ghost of maiden's peak...and he very rarely seems interested in girls at all. He didn't stare at Misty's sisters, even though everyone else did...including Pikachu! Plus, Revalation Lugia...I mean come on. Melody was sending him major signals that she liked him, but did he care? No, he made an excuse to get the heck out of there as fast as he could! Also when Melody kissed him, a look that can only be described as a mixture of suprise and horror crossed his face!

Also Ash seems to get touchy with males more than females. While he's almost never touched Misty (or any other girl) except in situations where it was absolutely nessesary for safety- like grabbing on to her hand underwater so they won't get seperated- there have been many times he's tocuhed other males for no real reason. In the Magnemite ep, when he gets scared, he chooses to jump over and hug Brock rather than Misty. And in the Jynx ep, he huddles with Brock for warmth instead of with Misty. He also clasps hands with Richie in one ep, and they put thier arms around each other in the manga. And then of course there are all the times he's gotten up close to Gary, which I talk about on the anime and manga hints pages.

Also, it may not mean anything for the anime but, at one point in Ono's manga it was even directly implied that Ash is gay. Misty made some comment about he and Brock travelling alone together, and Ash gets all denfensive like, "Don't read anything into it, OK?" Besides the fact that you have to wonder why Ash took Misty's comment 'that way' and got defensive about it, I think just the fact that Ono even put the idea out there that Ash could be gay means something!

And as for Gary...come on! He's surrounded all day by beautiful girls, but does he EVER flirt with them? No, he simply acts like he enjoys the attention. He doesn't even get jealous when Brock flirts with them. Any straight guy would be coming on to all those chicks like there was no tomorrow! And besides, you know how females seem to flock to gay men. They like to hang out with them because they're nonthreatening. Think about it: If all those girls who are so crazy about Gary really thought he was straight, they'd be catfighting each other every second over him!

Not only does Gary not show interest in his cheerleaders, but he never shows interest in ANY girls. Actually just about the only person on the whole show that Gary even gives the time of day to, besides his grandfather, is Ash!

All this is just to show how it's very possible that Ash and Gary could be gay or bi. But personally, I think people get WAY too hung up on wanting to analyze every little thing to assign a definite sexuality to each of them. I mean really, you can never know what type of person someone else could fall in love with. There are people who were married for 30 years and suddenly find out they're gay. Personally, I gotta call em as I see em, so if there are hints between Ash and Gary showing that they have a crush on each other, I'm not going to disregard those hints just because of gender.

So to me, the main proof that Ash and Gary are gay is thier obvious attraction to each other, evidence of which can be found on the anime and manga hints pages.
